Alessandra Ferreira introduced her luxury range of handbags to the British fashion elite last season and even in that short period of time has made her eclectic, stylish and uptown- designs some of the most desirable in the industry.
This season Ferreira has decided to pull the majority of her influences from the Brazilian butterfly. Originally from Brazil, Alessandra is well acquainted with the subtlety of palette and grace of movement, which this creature of tremendous natural beauty is renowned for. This influence can be seen on a range of details this season, from hand painted illustrations to decorative clasps.
As well as this, Ferreira has sourced inspiration from the futurism movement of the late 1960’s. This results in a range of bags in bold electric colours, angular cuts and geometric shapes, which would complement any chosen outfit.
Alessandra’s skill in producing these bags is the way in which she manipulates the leather. This can be a lengthy process, however the results are stunning. The manipulation creates many different styles of pleats and gives the bag a 3D form. The use of vibrant colours and luxurious leather makes these bags feel very opulent and the ultimate accessory.
This season Alessandra has developed her key signature ergonomic shapes and has introduced various new styles. The classic Gladstone bag is a given an injection of Brazilian magic produced in a seamless vibrant turquoise Italian finished leather. The Carrie Bradshaw clutch is oversized with beautiful fold detailing and antique silver clasps in vegetable tan leather, for the Girl about town who likes to make a statement.
For a softer feel for long summer hazy days Ferreira has collaborated with the artist Elizabeth Deshayes to produce delicate hand painted butterflies on luxurious nappa leather occasional bags. The Ferreira classic that sold out last season within weeks of going into stores has been updated for Spring Summer with a more streamlined shape. Minimal detailing gives an effortless feel to what has fast become Alessandra’s signature style. Like wise the linings of her bags have become a signature theme featuring colourful contrasting insides to match the perfection of her detailing.
Ferreira is the new accessories designer on the block and her designs have been seen draping from the elegant arms of such social trend setters as swimming designer Mellissa Odabash, Joy Yaffe, Erin O’Connor, Jodie Kidd and Lizzy Jagger. Alessandra’s bags have become a must have and have recently been featured in British Vogue. These bags are not just the choice of models but celebrities too. Cat Deeley and Kiera Knightly have been seen about town clutching Alessandra’s creations. Stockists this season include Selfridges London, Koo de Kir, USA, Publicis Drugstore, Paris, Divina & Co, Monaco.
